The Discover Astronomy Loan Box (“the Box”) is available to State-funded Primary and Secondary Schools within a 20 mile radius of Bath centred on BA1 2BL without charge for logistics and consumables (excluding batteries).
The representative of such a school (“the Borrower”) will use the web-based reservation system to express an interest. A reservation made on Bath Astronomers’ web site does not constitute a promise to provide the Box. Bath Astronomers reserve the right not to provide the Box, and reserve the right to terminate a loan period early and collect within 2 working days (excluding school holidays). The maximum duration of a loan is 4 weeks.
Bath Astronomers will organise the delivery and collection of the Box at a mutually convenient time with the Borrower.
The Borrower will ensure the Box is kept in a secure and safe location at all times. The Borrower will ensure they perform adequate risk assessments for the storage, movement and use of the Box on school premises. The Borrower uses the contents of the Box at their own risk.
The Borrower warrants that the Box will be returned in the condition it was loaned with the exception of any consumables that may have been used. The Borrower will advise Bath Astronomers within 2 days of any damage to the Box. The Borrower must ensure the flight case and its contents are covered by school insurance policies up to the value of £2500 whilst on their premises.
Bath Astronomers do not warrant or supply any guarantee regarding the flight case and its contents.
